Safeguarding
Stroud School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our children.
We fundamentally believe that every child has the right to learn in a safe environment, and that the safeguarding and welfare of children is everyone's responsibility in the school.
Safeguarding is at the centre of our pastoral care provision. We recognise that all staff have a role to play in ensuring we keep our pupils safe, and as such, all staff appointed to work at the School undergo child protection screening.
Children at Stroud are encouraged to speak to any member of staff with any concerns they may have. Our teachers and staff are trained to listen and to follow clear processes to ensure the child's concerns are addressed efficiently. All children also have access to our qualified school nurses (our Matorns), our Learning Support team and the Wellbeing Centre throughout their time at Stroud.
Our Child Protection policy can be accessed on the left under 'Documents', and has been compiled in line with national framework and guidance from the Department of Education. This document is updated regularly, and provides details on clear actions we take to ensure the safeguarding of pupils.
The School’s Child Protection Officers undertake formal refresher training every two years and in addition to this they regularly attend local network meetings and other relevant courses. Whole staff training is conducted every year. On joining the School all new staff are inducted in Child Protection matters and they also undertake training produced by the School.
