Peripatetic Lessons

Too often talents and passions lie undiscovered... At Stroud our enthusiastic teachers know how to encourage children and draw out these talents and passions, giving each child a sense of pride, self-confidence and the aspiration to succeed.

In all areas of school life - academic, creative, sporting and outdoor pursuits – enjoyment at all levels is central to our ethos. We are extremely proud of the pathways provided for all children to learn, develop and thrive in their individual interests. We balance just the right amounts of inclusion and competition to ensure children strive to do their best and celebrate each other’s achievements along the way. An extensive co-curricular programme means all children get to explore and uncover their passions and talents.

At Stroud we offer peripatetic 1:1 music lessons, speech and drama lessons, and horse riding lessons in small groups. These optional lessons are run by experts in the field who come in and share their expertise with our children.

Music Lessons

We offer individual music tuition on nearly all orchestral instruments as well as excellent vocal tuition for all children from Year 3. We currently have children learning the violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, guitar (acoustic, electric and bass), drum kit, piano and singing.

Speech and Drama Lessons

Children can pursue speech and drama as an extra activity.

Children are taught during weekly small group lessons and reach a high standard in external examinations. Lessons are provided by a specialist teacher, and the confidence gained contributes to the children’s success in all areas of the curriculum and their future careers.

Horse Riding

We offer horse riding lessons here at Stroud. It is a rewarding and exciting sport that can be enjoyed by children aged between 6-11 and we welcome all abilities.

We are lucky enough to have two ponies and onsite facilities that enable children to develop specialist skills and knowledge from their horse riding lesson. All our lessons are taught by Mrs Simmons, a British Horse Society (BHS) Qualified instructor and Miss Godwin, Farm Manager, who between them, have more than 30 years’ experience within the industry.
